What's Baldwin all about?
We are sheep. That may sound odd but in the Bible, Jesus refers to himself as the Good Shepherd and his followers as his sheep (John 10:11). We are a group of people that strives for a relationship with the God of the universe by following the teachings of Jesus Christ - the Good Shepherd.
But what denomination are you?
Well...we are not part of any denomination. While we do share a common history with many churches that bear the name "Church of Christ" we believe that the universal church of Christ is not defined by a name, but is made up of everyone, all over the world that has placed their faith in Jesus (Galatians 3:25-28).
So what do you believe?
We believe what all Christians have believed for over 2000 years...that God has provided salvation and fullness of life to all people that place their faith in Jesus Christ.
Ok...what is faith?
Faith in Christianity is a verb. Its not just believing in God or that Jesus existed; rather it is a life changing, course altering experience in our life where we decide to follow the teachings and display the love of Jesus. In the Bible we see that faith in Jesus is displayed through joining with him in Baptism, Repentance, Confession and Love.
If you're not familiar with what those words mean....basically it means that we submit to Jesus as the Lord of our life. We essentially marry our lives with Jesus by being baptized, we pledge to constantly try to rid our lives of sin, we proclaim, through our words and actions, that we serve Jesus and we strive to love people like He loves people.
Just as we see in the Christian scriptures the Baldwin church is led by a group of spiritually mature, loving members that we call Elders. Our Elders have been recognized among us as being outstanding examples of discipleship and spirituality, possessing the characteristics found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
Our church family is served by Deacons (1 Timothy 3:8-13). Deacons (meaning "servants") fulfill various service roles in our family and lead many of the ministries of the church under the direction of the Elders.
Keith serves as our primary teaching minister with the help and support of his wife Ana. Together they are instrumental in assisting the Elders and Deacons in the administration of the ministries and activities of the church.
The teenage years of life are very formative, and in our modern world there are many forces competing for to have that influence. Chase has a desire and a gift of being able to mentor and disciple our teens and youth so that they will learn how to seek God's counsel as they navigate this stage of life. The BYG consists of our 6th - 12th grade members.
Families with children at home are some of the busiest people in the world and we get that. Clark's ministry is to provide our families with spiritual direction related to this busy stage of life.
